NORMANN COPENHAGEN, a minimalist style with a strong attitude

The NORMANN COPENHAGEN brand

Normann Copenhagen is a Danish design company.
Its mission is to create original, bold and eye-catching products with a contemporary style that stands the test of time. The aim is to break away from conventional thinking and make the ordinary extraordinary through innovative and remarkable design.

Its origins:
This brand was born in 1999 from a meeting between two men, Poul Madsen and Jan Andersen, who had crossed paths by chance at trade shows. Chance is good, because once they became friends they quickly realised that they not only shared a common passion for design but also similar interests and values. Last but not least, they both had a desire to bring something new and unexpected to the design world.
Since their creation, many products have been created. All of them have been made in collaboration with well-known designers, as well as with promising talents from all over the world after being carefully selected by Poul and Jan.
For them, design is about love. It's about being touched by the style and falling in love with the product.
That's why the team at Normann Copenhagen works tirelessly to create highly stylish products that are at the crossroads of craft and industry.
Today, the collection consists of a wide and growing range of versatile furniture, sculptural lighting, beautiful textiles and smart home accessories.
A Normann Copenhagen product is characterised by an iconic shape that makes it instantly recognisable. It is an idiomatically minimalist expression of Scandinavian style. At the same time it is full of personality and character. A Normann Copenhagen product is playful and gives an impression of lightness and warmth. It has a simultaneously familiar and original expression.

In summary: a minimalist style with a strong attitude

BELL

The Bell chandelier takes its name from its bell-shaped feature. The design is simple, but the original suspension system stands out, and rather than being hidden, it is emphasised as a central element of the design.

The Bell range of lamps has been enhanced with new colours. Bell has a clean, minimalist look that is both raw and classic, making it suitable for many different interior styles. When several materials are the same colour, their tactile difference is emphasised. The monochrome chandelier is awakened by the subtle but striking contrast created between the smooth aluminium and the soft rubber. Available in four sizes, Bell is suitable for a wide range of uses. Hang several chandeliers of different sizes for spectacular lighting, hang a single large Bell chandelier over the dining room table or smaller chandeliers in pairs in different parts of the kitchen: the Bell chandelier is at home in any room of the house.

AMP

Danish designer Simon Legald has designed Amp for Normann Copenhagen. This range of refined lamps includes a table lamp, two pendant lamps, two chandeliers and a wall lamp.

The Amp range is characterised by its nostalgic yet contemporary look, and its quality materials, glass and marble, which give it a certain visual fragility, counterbalanced by a solid and sensual appearance.

A range of lamps inspired by hi-fi. Indeed, the idea for the shape of these lamps came to the designer one day when he was restoring an old radio dating from the 1960s. While looking for spare parts, he was seduced by the glow emitted by the tube amplifier. The simple oval shape of the tubes and the light they emit are a clear reference to this, as is the name Amp, which stands for amplified tube.

The designer wanted to visually emphasise the essential details, such as the way the shade rests on the base.

The juxtaposition of the two natural materials, light and transparent glass and heavy and solid marble, creates a fascinating contrast. The glass shade emits a beautiful light and is available in two colours, yellow or smoke. The marble lamp bases are available in a striking black or an attractive jade green, emphasising the natural elegance of this material.

SUPERPOSE

Superpose is a new sculptural lamp designed by Frederik Kurzweg for Normann Copenhagen. The lamp consists of three curved and rounded steel plates, arranged at a precise 180 degree angle. These geometric shapes overlap to create an impressive sculptural silhouette, which changes depending on the position from which it is viewed. This effect is reinforced by the pattern of perforations, which give the impression that the surfaces are more or less transparent. The carefully balanced proportions of the curves diminish towards the centre of the lamp, while the overlapping elements form beautiful, changing moiré patterns.

The Superpose lamp casts a direct light downwards, but a subdued light outwards by casting the shadow of the perforations all around it. Whether it is placed on a table, in the corner of a room or hanging from the ceiling, this lamp will create a very special atmosphere.

Wherever it is, Superpose will never cease to amaze you and you will not be able to take your eyes off it, even when it is switched off.
